What a groovy year this year! There were more Beatles, yellow submarines, Flintstones and World Cups than you can imagine, but to my surprise (as a lifelong fan), no Elvis - I guess he'd left the building.
The forecast had changed pretty much every time we'd looked at it in the days running up, but the weather held - a little chilly if the wind picked up, but the rain held off - and we always appreciate it if it's not chucking it down or baking hot when we've got a load of camera gear to lug around.
As ever, Andrew Hawkes and I shot the day though we unintentionally swapped how we shoot the parade - he shot the stuff I usually do, and vice versa - completely unplanned but it worked just as well as previous years. Again, we both used the day to test new gear - we've both bought a new camera body since last year, and once again, thanks to the guys at Bass & Bligh for their help there.
